      What’s the Frequency? Some of Our Favorite Female Health Podcasts.

      Most of us are contending with a real scarcity of time, and yet topnotch content is rising out of every possible corner and nook possible. What’s a woman to do (insert face palm emoji)? We know our bodies are complex, and the state of affairs for reproductive system disorders, fertility and family planning, and manifest stress is changing. We increasingly must navigate so much conflicting information singularly, or so it seems, as we are our own best advocates, particularly when armed with knowledge. We want as much information nestled within us as we can muster, but where to start? Well, we have started for you. We continue to build our informational resources here at Trellis every day, and one of the greatest services we can provide for you is pointing you to some kickass outside expertise and dialogues around women’s health.

      Following are some of our favorite podcasts discussing female bodies, women’s health, and mind/body issues near and dear to women.


      Hands down, this is one of the most exploratory and honest podcasts surrounding the female body, but most importantly – the most comprehensive in recounting systemic issues surrounding the difficulty many women face in findings answers to their medical dilemmas.

      In the creator’s – Brooklyn-based Allison Behringer – own words: “Each episode of this intimate, highly-produced documentary program follows one person’s journey to solve a mystery about their body. But then more questions emerge:
      “Why aren’t doctors taking my pain seriously?
      “Who decides what pain is worth researching, diagnosing, and treating?”

      “Where does knowledge about our bodies even come from?”

      Bodies explores the forces of history, society and identity that shape women’s health and affect the way the medical community treats people. For so long, women’s health has been under-researched and overlooked. So often, our stories have gone untold and our questions have gone unanswered. Bodies is part of a movement to change that.”

      Fertility Friday
      This podcast was created by a woman named Lisa, a certified Fertility Awareness Educator, a Holistic Reproductive Health Practitioner, and someone who has personally used Fertility Awareness as a primary method of birth control for nearly 20 years and has experienced her own health struggles, The Fertility Friday Podcast is a weekly podcast about Fertility Awareness and the connection between our menstrual cycles and overall health!

      In Lisa’s own words: “Fertility Friday Radio debunks common myths about the fertility awareness method, birth control, and conception. Your host Lisa, founder of fertilityfriday.com, is passionate about women’s health, specifically in the areas of fertility, hormone-free birth control, conception, and pregnancy.       Wellness Mama
      The Wellness Mama Podcast is a weekly series covering the topics of holistic health, real food, stress, sleep, fitness, toxins, natural living, DIY, parenting, motherhood, and other health tips to give you actionable solutions to improve your family’s life! Brought to you by Katie Wells of WellnessMama.com. Previous topics include diet fads and how they pertain to a woman’s body, environmental factors on hormone levels, non-toxic products, and parenting topics, all with guest experts.

      TED Talks Health

      TED Talks Health is not solely focused on women’s health. In their own words: “From way-new medical breakthroughs to smart daily health habits, doctors and researchers share their discoveries about medicine and well-being onstage at the TED conference, TEDx events and partner events around the world.” However, you will find insightful and groundbreaking thoughts about health from the unexpected to world-renowned practitioners. What is most helpful about the specialized ideas and stories presented in these talks is a sense of not being alone in our own health struggles or medical queries. Some of these stories are mirrors and some present great ideas for integration into our daily health routine. Like so many other TED Talks, these health-focused presentations can inspire.

      Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations
      Oprah’s SuperSoul podcast is not focused on female health nor fertility yet offers a rich pantheon of intimate dialogues with inspiring women and ideas for ultimate mind/body health. She talks to powerful, soulful women about their triumphs and challenges, leaders in psychology and spirituality, and many more luminaries with powerful stories to share of mind, body and spiritual health!
